For confident sitters, crawlers up to first wobbly steps
This class is the follow on stage from Pre Crawlers and is joyful, lively and active, and is best suited to babies who are sitting confidently or on the move.
Your baby’s brain is developing and growing at a rapid rate and their motor skills will be improving weekly. In this class, we offer plenty of opportunities for your baby to watch other babies, imitate, learn and show skills they have been mastering in the previews months leading up to this point including shaking their maracas, reaching forward to take props out of the basket, clapping or following objects that move in multiple directions.
Your baby is now more aware of their surroundings and their memory is improving meaning they will recognise our class and remember our Hello song that we sing every week, and in turn helping them to feel safe. In this class, our activities have been lovingly planned to encourage babies to explore their world around them and encourage sensory exploration, communication, understand concepts, and begin to grow in confidence as they crawl away from you for brief moments to play.
Babies tend to stay in this Little Senses stage for the longest period of time. From sitting to walking can take upwards of 6 months and up to around 8 or 9 months, and this is why we love our stage based classes. Your baby will be in the class that is right for them for as long as they need to be. There is no rush to move up when your baby reaches 1 year.
Babies best suited to this class will be at this stage of development:
- Are sitting confidently
- May be crawling
- Will spend longer periods of time on their tummy
- Can reach forwards to take an object or toy of interest
- Can turn to face towards the direction of sound
- Is beginning to turn and twist toys in their hand to learn more about their texture
- Begins to clap / wave / point
- Can hold a toy in each hand
- Understands cause and effect / object permanence
- May show enjoyment during musical activities or nursery rhymes / action songs
- May be standing, or taking their first wobbly steps.
Our Little Senses Pre Walkers classes run on Mondays and Thursdays in East Grinstead. We also offer a Little Senses mixed class in Forge Wood on Tuesdays and Copthorne on Fridays.
