In our Little Explorers and Little Learners classes the adventure begins with some child led play. This time gives your little one the chance to explore and decide how they want to play, with that and with whom. An array of interesting toys are set up to encourage your little one to want to come in and play, including things like a balance beam, a cosy book tent, some smaller, more intricate toys to support fine motor skills like puzzles or building, puppets, small world and open ended toys.

Through this play we aim to encourage exploration, balancing, climbing, language development, fine motor skills, independence, imagination and social skills. This section of the class is the perfect time for you to meet other parents & make friends, play with your toddler and discover how they play.

This section lasts around 20-25 minutes until our ‘TIDY UP’ song plays, a song that toddlers love and respond so well to.

And let me tell you-toddlers can tidy up REALLY fast and they love it too.

Once the mats are clear of toys, we sit together in a circle and begin with a big wave hello to me and then to all our friends. This instills the feeling of us all being there together, cementing friendships and the feeling of belonging.

Throughout the class we encourage toddlers to gain independence by coming to get their own props, and tidy them away too.

Our welcome song “Hello, it’s good to see you today” is a fun way to get toddlers moving, stretching, clapping and stamping and it’s a well loved song.

A range of interactive and fun adult led activities follow that work on various areas of development, everything from balancing, throwing and catching, weight transference, to dexterity & hand manipulation and sensory based activities too.

All classes are child led and we want both you and your little one to feel comfortable and relaxed during the entire class. There is never an expectation for little ones to join in with every activity – this often happens with time and continuity, but also age. But in order for your little one to gain the most out of the class Parent participation is fully recommended as your interactions will facilitate and excel their learning.

Our Goodbye song brings the class to a close.
